Wagon Road to Roosevelt
The Emmett Index May 7, 1903
Frank E. Johnesse, superintendent of construction of the Thunder Mountain Wagon Road, to be built from Long Valley to Roosevelt, expects to leave about May 15 for a trip over the route in company with a party of prospective contractors. The contract will be awarded soon and work will be resumed as soon as weather conditions will permit. Under the provisions of the law passed by the last legislature appropiating $20,000 to aid in constructing this road, a similar amount was to be raised on the outside. Colonel Dewey and his associates have already placed $10,000 at the disposal of the state and arrangements have been made to deposit the remaining $10,000 on May 10.
